Left to tell

2 1/2 hours
pages 1-92
I started reading Left to tell this week. This book starts out by telling about a girl (Immaculee Ilibagiza) and her life. She comes from a very religious family and her father is very well known and respected throughout the village. she's very smart in school, but there are trials from the different tribes. she tells many stories about her trials in school and other things. for instance, she tells about her first time in school when the teacher called roll using tribes. she had no idea there were tribes so she didn't know when to stand up. she got in trouble and had to leave the calss. her parents told her that tribes didn't matter, everyone's equal. she get's accepted to a girl's college (which is very hard for her tribe since they are the minority and disliked for the most part). she goes to the college and there are only 2 from her same tribe. her brother comes to visit her every once in a while (she's very close to him). that's where i ended... i really like this book so far!! it drew me in so quickly and makes me realize how different the world is. i'm not used to hearing about different tribes. it's opened my eyes to what is really going on out there and how hard things are. i'm excited to continue reading this book and seeing what happens next!
