change in plans... Same Kinda Of Different As Me

about 1 hr.
pages 1-26
So i went on a trip to Louisiana this weekend and before i left i searched for Left to Tell and it was nowhere to be found.. so mama saved me and gave me a book called The Same Kind of Different As Me. This book starts out with a little black boy named Ron Hall living in Louisiana and he tells of being beaten up by white boys for helping a white woman out. He goes on to tell about working on a plantation till he's a grown man. One day he gets sick of working on the plantation and walks to the train station, hops on the train and doesn't get off until the doors open in Fort Worth, Texas. He then tells how he goes from a poor man with no money or job experience besides cotton working, to being one of the richest men in the area. He started out by selling soup and now he's an artist. He's married to Debbie and together they sell the art work. One day he gets robbed by two black men that look really dirty and then he suddenly goes back to tell us about his childhood and how poor he was. He tells about happy memories as a kid and sad stories of losing loved ones. This is where i left off, but i've loved this book since the very first paragraph!! I love how he throws his southern speech in the book because it makes it more real for me. I also love this book more because i just got back from Louisiana and i have a more clear picture of what he's saying. Can't wait to pick it up again and read more!!
